In an ideal world how long would you breastfeed?

Hello. Just curious how long if you had no other commitments ,ie work or other kids, would you breastfeed for? My son is 18 months and has an occasional night feed but I stopped breastfeeding during the day at 14 months partly because of work and my relationship. I love breastfeeding and would have carried on but I felt he was ready to stop.

I'm hoping to get to 6 months. I think ill be glad to.be done with it then. I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with bf. I love that dd is thriving, gaining weight etc. It makes night feeds very easy. I love that I don't have to worry about how much she takes at each feed. I hate that I can't be away from the baby without lots of forward planning so that I express enough milk. I hate when she pulls at my nipples or scratches my boobs. I hate cluster feeding and the times when she gets all screamy at my boobs. I hate that I can't diet to lose weight I'm about 12lb over what I want to be and I feel disgusting. I hate being hungry all of the time.

I got to 15 months with DD1 when we stopped. She was down to morning and bedtime only by that point. I was fed up of having to do every bed time, and DD wasn't settling with a feed any more. We swapped for a cup of cows milk and she wasn't phased by it.
DD2 is only 3 weeks. I'd like to get to a year, then take each day as it comes. She's definitely my last so I might want to carry on longer!

Ideally till around 2 yrs and then whenever they want to self wean. DS1 scuppered that idea when he self weaned at 16 months. I think DS2 is likely to feed for longer, currently 9 months in, but I could be wrong!
