Struggling at nipple

DS is 6wks and EBF. He is a hungry (and big) boy and I've struggled with constant feeding, cluster feeds, and very little sleep - especially in the daytime.

I am struggling with feeding at the mo because DS is really fussy at the boob - he pulls my nipple, squirms, grunts, cries, arms & legs flailing, etc. I wonder if it's constant wind/griping or if perhaps he's overtired (he rarely sleeps for longer than 30mins at a time in the day apart from maybe one nap of 2-3hrs). But it's so uncomfortable and painful after a while, and he doesn't drop off at the boob like he used to

Don't want to scare you but could it be thrush ? Sounds similar to what I experienced is all.

If it is (get it diagnosed) and you struggle to get anywhere with prescriptions try grapefruit seed extract - google it - it's a faff to apply but it worked for me when nothing else did.

Beach how are things now? It could be normal but sounds like it might be worth going to your local Bfing support group, they may be able to check your latch, observe a full feed and check DS for tongue tie.

It's probably even worth going for a and some adult company .

DS is currently snoozing on DH, giving me a welcome break after a traumatic eve of DS really fussing and pulling/twisting my nipples and generally being very unsettled

He had a TT snipped a couple of weeks ago, so I don't think it's related to that, and his latch/positioning is good.

So difficult to understand, but I have a feeling it's sleep related...

It could be totally normal, one thing you might want to try is breast compressions. Has anyone mentioned doing this to you? Are yiu getting any support after having the tt snipped?

One thing is for sure, his size won't be anything to do with it, your body has nurtured him to this size so why would it start to be an issue now?

Is this all a relatively new thing? Could it be the 6 week growth spurt?
