Water for 8 month old BFed DS?

My DS is happily eating 3 meals a day. I haven't been offering him water as his weight gain has slowed quite a bit, and he is feeding a couple of times at night, so wanted him to drink only BM so that he is taking more calories during the day. He doesn't seem to want any after his meals though and has cut his daytime feeds down due to the solids so I'm now a bit worried he's not getting enough fluids. What do you think, should I be offering him water with his meals?

(Have also posted this on weaning section, hope its ok to do a multiple post, just thought some of you BFeeders might hang out on here more!)

I offered water at this stage.Never bothered me if they didn't drink it though as I knew fluid uptake from b/milk was plenty.
Thought it a good habit to get into though.

He has been doing less wet nappies and wee has been a bit darker. I'm more than happy to BF him totally at the moment, he just doesn't seem to want that much in the day (just the night!!) He didn't really put on any weight over the last month (only 2oz in 4 weeks) so that was another reason for me just going with the milk, but with the lack of nappies I wondered whether he'd regulate his water intake so that he'd leave enough room for milk iykwim?
