Cramping in breast after feeding

My DD is 3 weeks old and I am EBF. It's going well but I've always found the right breast is harder to feed from. It is bigger and the nipple and surrounding area is bigger. For the last 4 days it feels uncomfortable. The latch seems OK but I can be a bit uncomfortable as she feeds and the first 5 secs are pretty painful. However after the feed my nipple alternates between white then red for about an hour and it hurts when it goes white. As my boobs refills it cramps. If I use a hot flannel it feels lovely and soothing.
Any ideas what this can be? I change positions and it hurts whatever the latch is. The other boob is fine.
Thanks in advance

Sorry no but didn't want to leave unanswered. Can u ask midwife/ HV to pop in and see?

What you're describing sounds like nipple blanching which has various causes. This article gives a lot of detail and suggestions for treating or dealing with it:

Definitely sounds like blanching/vasospasm. It's hideous. IME it goes after the first few weeks - think it was gone by 5/6 weeks, though it can last much longer for some people. Not letting your boobs get cold help - feeding outside at this time of year a definite no! And as you say, warm compress after feeds takes the edge off.

There is medication you can take if it gets really bad - sorry can't remember the name, you'll need to google. And you'll need a supportive/tame GP.

Hope it eases for you soon.

Thanks. Sounds like I need to just keep going. What's good is the boob is fine when I actually feed so it's not putting me off. I might pop to a support group to see if I can get help with the latch as I'm sure that is making it worse. Just hope as she grows bigger it gets better.

I have no advice but just to say I had this! 3 months on that boob still feels a tad more sensitive, but the pain you describe has gone. I had so many BF issues and pains but come 6 weeks they had mainly settled. Good luck!
