Cluster feeding to the extreme

Just after some advice my baby is currently one week old

We have been breastfeeding from the start and after a difficult start we are there but...I've had baby on my boob from 6 this evening only breaking for burping and nappy change.

I guess he is having a growing spurt but my boobs are struggling to keep up also my lack of sleep.

Any advice please I've let him fall asleep on me as I am worried that if I put him down he will stir then we start the feeding again.

Sounds normal but the first round of cluster feeding is tough as you aren't prepared for it. What time did you finish?
I've got an 18 day old and I find that if I feed her every 2 to 3 hours during the day the cluster feeding isn't quite as bad. Good luck and stay hydrated.

I watched the whole of the USA election unfold on Tuesday night as we were up until nearly 4am! Try to stay relaxed and just go with it.

I find it totally knackering as well. Grab sleep when you can. Have you got any support? My DH has started to take DD for an hours walk in the pram after her first morning feed at about 8am and I have a really deep sleep then which helps.see.me through the day. It feels less lonely knowing there are other people awake and feeding in the small hours!

Are you sure you're not just asking as a dummy for your baby? Mine were like this too, HV told me to feed something like 20 mins one side and 10 the other then stop - but don't actually do 'that' as I can't recall, but

Yep he was in fact using me as a dummy for comfort! Went and spoke with breastfeeding clinic and that's exactly what he has done.

We introduced a dummy and now we back to nice steady regular feeds. And not suckling for comfort any more and seems to be know feeding for hunger.

So fingers crossed for tonight.

I have no problem waking up in the night etc but it was difficult not been able to put down in fear of waking him up for him to want food again.

Sorry flumby just seen this! There loads better the dummy has been a life saver we even get a sold 6 hours sleep!

I get this won't last long but we are great full x
