I have heard a rumour that you can't, Because your body is natually trying to wean the first in preparation for the second?
I would really like to continue but would also like to try for a second when DD is 1.

Yes you can. I did it for 3 months of my pg whith DS2 (DS1 was 15 months when he stopped) and many womane on here have gone on to do it throughout their pregnancies and then have tandem fed afterwards.

I'm sure there will be someone along with more info soon. Good luck with TTC, btw

Yes you can. There are one or two "tandem" feeders on here that may be able to give you advice.

For Sure you can, It is likely tho that DD will Self Wean as your supply may drop and the milk will taste different anyway

hunkermunker · 10/02/2007 19:44

Yes, you can.

I did - DS1 self-weaned when I was 5m pg with DS2 - but I'd have continued if he'd wanted it after DS2 was born.

Yes you can absolutely. I continued to b/f dd all through my next pregnancy. It was a bit sore (which was the first sign that I was pg as I wasn't having regular periods) and after the first few months it seemed to change back to being more like colostrum, but dd is a determined girl and kept going regardless We're still kinda tandem feeding now, dd is almost 4 and ds is 16 months but dd only feeds once every few days (to her disappointment!)

Currently still bf dd who is 17 mths twice a day and 8 wks pg. You can still bf just need to make sure you eat well and be aware that your milk can change and can diminish sometimes during pg. We are just going to carry on and see how we get on

So glad to hear all this!

I am a way off trying to do both, but my mind is at rest that it is possible. I will just have to give it my best shot when I get there.
DH did point out that to do it would mean that I would be trying to sustain 3 people and that I may struggle, and I already have another thread on the go because I worry that I don't eat enough for us both now. So I will, as I say, just have to do my best and see how me and DD get on when the time comes.
Thanks so much though.
