Help! No poo & colicky crying, it's miserable...

Sorry no time to read other threads to see if this has been done. DD is 8wks and BF. Over the last week she has stopped pooing 3-4 times a day and went for 40hrs+ with nothing, now once a day if we're lucky, thicker than usual but still mustard colour. This has coincided with the start of horrendous colicky screaming in the evening for about an hour, relieved a bit if she farts, massage & leg cycling etc not helping much. Think if she went back to pooing more frequently this would help, but can anyone offer advice? It's really horrible. HV says no poo for ages is OK but she's not comfortable. Has also starting waking herself up screaming with pain, and straining with no result.

Hi Smittal

My ds does this too (from about the same age, maybe a bit earlier I think). He also cries a lot in the evening. To be honest though, he cries on the days he's done a poo as well so not really sure they're connected.

From reading posts on here, it does seem very normal. I was poo-obsessed when it started as I couldn't see how it could possibly be good for him but as time has gone on it just seems to be a new pattern.

I'll be interested to read other replies. Ds strains sometimes too but it doesn't seem to hugely upset him.
