Need more info, emma.....;)

How old is your baby?
Has she just started doing this?
Weight and other info?

Tip: no need for 'txtspeak' on mumsnet! '4 2 mins' is hard to understand, as is '2 distract'...hope you don't mind me saying it!

Does she come off because she is choking when you 'let down'?

Does she ever have a full proper feed?

We definately need more info on this one to help you further..

Is she crying to go back on, emma? I am finding it hard to picture what's happening here, sorry....would be good if you could give one of the breastfeeding helplines a ring and talk it through.

If she has fed for 10 to 15 minutes - is this from the one side?

Do you try her on the other side?

Does she have a preferred side?

How long has she been doing this?

Does she push away from your breast whilst screaming hysterically?

Does she get supplemental feeds from an artificial teat?

Has she been checked for a possible ear infection?

Have you recently started taking any contraceptive pills?

Question i forgot to ask...

Could you possibly be pregnant again?

PrettyCandles · 09/02/2007 19:33

When ds does this it's usually because he's got wind, or is brewing a poo. Once the wind comes up or the poo comes he's then happy to feed properly again. The trouble with persevering with a feed under these conditions is that he takes in more wind. In this case a dummy would be useful to distract until the source of the discomfort is gone, but if the baby is very hungry then nothing really works well.

IIRC from my other LOs, I think they would sometimes do this when teething as well.
