How do you take expressed milk and formul out and about?

My 3week old will only feed from one breast so I have to express and use formula to top up using bottles. This means I have to take bottles out with me. I've been putting the bottles in my change bag as it's quite cool outside but in further reading I'm worried about hygiene etc. How do you take milk (about 60ml portions) out for a day? Do you just use a small cool bag and ask cafes etc. For warm water to heat? Thanks.

Formula make when needed, you could make it and let it cool whilst baby has first breastfeeding. Take flask of hot water to make. Or if taken airway made it needs to go in cool bag. Then warmed baby prefers it warm but it's recommended you make it fresh.

Breastfeeding milk is fine at room temperature for six hours so you can just take it out with you, or put it in a cool bag and it will be fine for a good while. Can't remember exactly how long in a cool bag the guidelines say (look at kellymom). And warm if necessary, some babies will take mkk at room temp/cool.

Re baby only feeding on one side what help are you getting with this? Have you tried rugby ball hold to trick baby into thinking it's on side it likes? How was birth if forceps or long pushing stage etc that can affect baby so they prefer one side. But cranial osteopaths etc can sometimes help. Def look into why baby won't latch on one side.

I bought a small lunchbox sized cool bag which will take two bottles and an ice pack, I felt more confident about having the milk out and about if it was kept cool. I think it's fine for 6 hours at room temp though so if you're only going out for a short time you should be fine!

Thanks! He was a planned c section and won't use rugby hold as hates head being held. But amazingly a couple of days ago he started latching on to the side he wouldn't before. It's extremely sore compared to the other side as he's not as good at it and my nipple is not as well formed, but I'm so please and we're persevering. Going to breast feeding groups. Great news! Might also be worth getting tongue tie ruled out. My ds has a tongue tie and still managed to feed but it was a big effort for him. The breastfeeding support places usually have someone who can check or can point you in the right direction. Good luck!
