Expressing for fun...

...well not really but you know what I mean, expressing to replace a feed so you can go out.

I left ds (11 weeks) for the first time over a feed this morning and had a bottle of expressed milk in the fridge for my dad to give him. No problems there.

I, however was in a lot of discomfort by the time I got back and had to express again as it was too soon for ds to want fed again. Does this get easier?? I was only away for 5 hours from the last feed.

Actually, writing this down 5 hours is quite a lot of time. Do I just have to get used to taking the hand pump with me? I don't expect to do this often and I suppose even an evening out wouldn't be so long if I was able to make sure that I fed him just before I went out.

Any experiences or ideas welcomed though.

I did exactly that when i went out while breastfeeding dd. I had meant to express loads before I left but didn't have time and then a few hours later I was uncomfortable and leaking so I just went into the loo and hand expressed enough out to feel comfortable. I found expressing really easy though and that might not work for everyone.

Thanks. I'll practice hand expressing a bit more - I've tried it but I'm not v good at aiming! LOL at the thought of expressing down the loo but if needs must!

I've been expressing on and off pretty much since day one for bad latch/sore nips reasons so at least it's paid off in that respect.
