Can I use the fast (4 months plus) teat for my 11 week old?

He's swallowing lots of air even with the medium flow one. He's sucking so hard on the teat (we use mam bottles) his lips make a smacking noise and he seems to get tired during each bottle, then while burping wake up and want more. Colic has got noticeably worse since this started happening. Mam recommends the fast flow for 4 months plus. Has anyone else used it this early?

Give it a go and see. Keep a muslin handy though as it comes out at a rate of knots and if they can t cope it will spurt all over you. DS couldn't manage the fast flow until about 5 months. I'm pretty sure they do a variflow teat which may be a better option?

I haven't seen variflow for mam bottles but then ive only looked on Amazon. I know that the fast flow one isn't actually the widest teat that they do though, so compared to other brands it might not be as fast. Did you use the mam bottles?

The size 3 is fast. My son is 19 weeks old and struggles with them but you could try them and see.

So we have tried him with the fast teat (recommended for 4 months and above) and he manages it fine. No more lip smacking noises and doesn't seem to get as tired during a bottle. :D
