BF and having surgery

Hello all,
I'm having surgery under general anaesthetic next week to have wisdom teeth removed. My DD will be 18 weeks ands is BF but will happily take a bottle if she needs to so I'm not too worried about being away from her for the day from that point of view.
I am worried that I'll not be allowed to wear my nursing bra during surgery. If I don't wear it I'm worried I'm going to leak all over the operating table and come out of surgery soaked through with milk.
I'm also worried that I'm going to be in hospital all day without feeding, should I take my breast pump so I can express? Or will I be too "out of it" after to be able to anyway?

Also does anybody know how long after general anaesthetic I'll be allowed to breast feed again? I've got my pre op appointment tomorrow so I'm assuming they'll tell me then, I just don't know what to expect

Not sure about anaesthetic but they allow women to breast feed once awake after emergency CS so I don't think that's an issue. As for bra, if there's no metal in it it should be fine. But vest to explain and ask at pre op.

I had a GA and major abdominal surgery when my son was 11 months so not feeding as much perhaps, but he was a guzzler... I expressed, mostly by hand I think, and more for my relief so not a full feeds worth. I think a nurse was a little surprised but only in the sense that I was unusual, there was no negative reaction. I seem to think that I was able to feed again pretty easily when I came home a couple of days later ie, supply coped with the brief change! Hope that's helpful.

I wore a bra during my surgery (pre pregnancy and totally unrelated). You can feed straight after, if you are ok to hold baby. I'd take a pump with you just in case. Your surgery could get put back a few hours, you never know.

I had surgery at 6 months with first child. Gynae surgery so was allowed to wear bra. (Although had mri recently and wasn't allowed to and nurses were fab. Took loads of breast pads and just put loads of them on gown). Hospital were brilliant. Was given private room so baby could stay with me. I was allowed to feed straight after op.

Been for pre op today and asked about breastfeeding and they were completely clueless. Had no idea if I could wear my bra for surgery and had no idea how soon after surgery I could breastfeed again. She said she's going to find out and give me a call but I'm not going to hold my breath.

I had a feeding bra from jojo (not their brand) which had plastic clips, although may have had metal fasteners? I have a night feeding bra from m&ms which I'm pretty sure doesn't have any metal on it? I would call the hospital and speak to nurse on the surgical ward and ask specifically what is ok, but if no bra is possible at all, could you pump before you go down, then tape ( you can buy soft tape from boots etc) some breast pads on to your boobs?

I had an ovenight stay when DD was 6 months old. I used a manual breast pump to express and dump so I wasn't sore and to keep my supply going. The hospital were excellent and got me a pump from Maternity (not a planned admission).

If you need a good quality pump NCT used to hire them?
