100ml ebm every 1.5 hours

I'm combination feeding ( breast, bottled ebm and formula) due to several bf problems I won't go into.

Tonight ds has been more grungy than normal in his sleep and crying (for food?) every 1.5 hours and I've been giving him 100ml of breast milk and his next feed will need to be formula as I've fallen behind with pumping.
Does this sound like a lot?

The other thing is I'm getting a cold and I've noticed he's been coughing a bit over the weekend. Does it sound like he might be catching it and crying cos he's feeling crappy?

How old is DS? 100ml after 1.5 hours sounds like a lot for a newborn but if he is a few months old then no, it doesn't seem a lot.

That does sound like quite a lot. When my girls were in hospital, the way to work out how much EBM to give was 150ml/kg of weight, and this was for feeds every 3 or 4 hours. For a 4kg ish baby, you'd only be on 112ml every 4 hrs.

Is your baby taking 100ml every 1.5 hours? Is he sick after feeds? How do you know he's hungry versus just wanting a cuddle etc?

It's tricky as breast milk requirements don't really change between 1 month and 6 months but formula amounts change in relation to weight.

Babies do eat more on some days and less on some days so he migth just be a bit hungrier.

if you wanted to you could do cup feeding which is a bit more work for the baby so he might drink slower

Worth remembering babies, just like us get thirsty too, breastmilk will rehydrate well, are you able to feed directly from the breast? Is it worth calling one of the breastfeeding helplines? Or an experienced health visitor?

My 5 week old girls are mostly having 150ml EBM per feed, sometimes 180, sometimes only 80. If on the lower side they do wake up after a very short time. I would guess your little one is actually still hungry and therefore waking to feed even more.

I'm doing 100ml then change nappy, then 50ml, then top up as required.

Lots of burps obviously because they are only little tummies. I don't know where they put it!
