Stopping and starting breastfeeding at 9 months

I have been suffering from nipple thrush for over a week now and my nipples are so sore. I have been prescribed and an antifungal cream from the doctor which seems to be helping a little bit but everytime it seems to get better gets worse again. I am also treating my son for oral thrush.

It has got so bad I have stopped breastfeeding for the last 24 hours and only expressed once. (Even that was excruciatingly painful!)

This morning I managed to feed from one breast but that was still painful.

My question is how long can I stop for before my milk stops? Also if it does stop, will it start again if I try to breast feed?
