BF and work

Hi all

I'm back to work soon and my 10 month DS is still breastfeeding frequently. He won't take a bottle, takes very little from a cup and isn't very interested in food.

I work long hours and there's not an option to work shorter days so I'm a bit concerned at how he's going to cope.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Any advice on how to manage this?

He won't take it from a cup from you? Or he won't take it of you leave him? You may find he's happier to take expressed milk from a bottle or cup once he's away from you.

Alternatively you may find he reverse cycles and fits all his days feeding into the time where your home

My DD was the same, she managed on some milk from a doidy cup, some solid food and yoghurt, and some water. She just went crazy for breastmilk when I got home. The downside could be that his nighttime sleep might go a bit downhill if he feeds more at night to make up for it.

Someone I know had their husband bring their baby into work during breaks because of this problem! I have no idea how they kept that up. Can you call ACAS (free advice about work and laws regarding employment) and see what they suggest?

My 8mo played merry hell when anyone else tried to bottle feed her BM when I started taking her to nursery and leaving her with her dad for the first 2-3 weeks of sessions. (At 6.5mo) (Usually about 4 hrs at a time) but once she'd settled in and got used to the staff she fed quickly from a bottle and actually started drinking more. Nursery commented that about 40% of the time she prefers to drink sitting upright from her bottle rather than in a normal feeding position.
I was panicking she was going to starve (obviously this is my PFB!) but she soon cottoned on to her available options!
