Hi!

I have a 3 week old baby girl (will be 4 weeks Monday) she didn't have a poo yesterday and seems to be straining today, red face, knees up etc! Doesn't seem overly upset and isn't crying. She is breastfed and feeding really well and she has plenty of wet nappies. Is this normal to miss a day having a poo?

I'm a new mum so everything worries me haha! Hope someone can give me some advise! I've read online Breast fed babies can go quite a few days however some things say they should have a few a day!

Thanks!

If your baby is thriving, then gaps between poos after newborn is nothing to be concerned about.

The red face and apparent straining is normal :)

Yes it's totally normal and so is the red face! They can miss a few days. Baby digestive systems take a while to mature.

My bf DS had a dirty nappy about every 5 or 6 days as a newborn. It was great! Grin
