BREAST TO BOTTLE

NEED HELP/ADVICE on the breast to bottle issue.* All my other three had no issue's with the transition, it's just number four who is being 'difficult'. Dad can give bottle at 10.30 but she won't take any bottle from mum and it's now getting me down as I want to start dropping a daytime feed. Any advice would be welcome, my baby is 15 weeks old.

Well, on the down side, ds2 took 9.5 months to accept a bottle!

Perseverance, alot of Dad only to start with, plus try different bottles; we went through loads, and then another mnetter suggested Nuk (even brought one round for me!), which he's taken too. I know alot of babies trhat have only agreed to a bottle after good old starvation too

Didn't think of the starvation angle, I think the screamimg would get me down !! I thought with it being my 4th I had all answers - WRONG. 9.5 months think I will go bonkers if it lasts that long. Thanks for the advice on bottle though can they be bought on high street?

My DD wouldn't accept a bottle off me while I was still BF (think she could smell my milk)

But once I stopped and dried up she took it np probs! RU still BF at all?

mustrunmore · 28/01/2007 21:41

Yep, in Boots. They come with the newborn teat; I bought the older ones as he was about 9 months then, and it wa too fast for him! He's still on the first ones now, at 11 months!
I didnt expect to be able to bf at all, as with ds1 I only managed 2 weeks. So I wasnt so desperate to stop... until I thought the option was no longer there if I wanted to! Then i was desperate to get him to accept the bottle!!

foxychic · 28/01/2007 21:44

Yes I am still BF apart from the the one feed at 10.30pm. I suppose I shouldn't complain as she sleeps through after this feed until morning but I'm feeling a little down at the moment and thought if I could start dropping off the BF's then hubby could help out more. I know I'll miss this as she will be the last but I'm finding it all a bit tuff

Oh Foxychic I feel for you, i found it emotional stopping BF and I'm kinda sure I'll have another at some point!

Hubby could still help out more if you replace the feed and he could do it? Will she take EBM off you or not?

foxychic · 28/01/2007 21:57

Dear CakeandFineWine, no she will accept nothing other than the real mckoy from me. Dad has tried to do the day time feed, set the scene; quiet room, no mummy in sight but she just point blank refused. I think I'll try the NUK bottle and stop feeling so hung up about it all (easier said than done) hormones all over the shop at the mo.

Oh hun
Yeah keep perservering, I know its a pain but sometimes its just a case of trying various bottles and teats until you find one which suits your babe!
Good luck, thinking of u x
