Infant feeding

Is my baby over eating?

My ds is 3m, he was weighed on Friday and is just over 14lb. He's put on over 4lb in 6 weeks.

He always seems hungry and I've been breastfeeding on demand.

He wants feeding every 2/3 hours.

Whenever I hold him he's trying to suck my face/neck/arm

He's between 75th and 91st centile for weight and 9th for length.

Sounds perfectly normal to me.

In fact my son fed more frequently than that at that age.

I agree it sounds normal. You can't overfeed a breastfed baby....

What percentile was he born on?

HarrysMummy17 · 24/07/2016 18:35

Thank you for the reassurance. He was born early at 36+3

He was between 50th and 75th, then dropped to 25th for 3 weeks before climbing back to 50th

It's mainly because we've visited family this weekend that haven't met him before and everyone commented on how big he was!

My first born was born at 32 weeks and has always been very skinny so everyone seems to be comparing them!

Perfectly normal!! My DD1 was born 8lb15oz, and was 9lb2.5oz within a week- she shouldn't have regained her birth weight by then! She followed the 90th centile until she was 18mths where she gradually dropped to the 75th. She is now 12 and has a healthy slim figure. People will always comment- either ooh isn't s/he chubby, tiny , skinny, bald etc Babies are what babies are!!!😀

My DD was 6lb 5oz when she was born & then put on about 10-14oz. a week for the first two months! She's a healthy chubby 6 month old now - weight gain has slowed over the last few months. Sounds like you're doing great work growing your baby!
