i would really appreciate some help with this one! ,my dd is 5 months and i have begun to move from bf to ff. over the last couple of weeks, i have begun to swap some bf for ff but am not sure where to go next. at the moment, she gets 7am bf, 10 am ff,2pm and 5pm bf,7pm ff, 10.30 ff and any night time wakings bf (usually just around 3 a.m).
logic tells me that the next feed to swap would be in the afternoon, but then what? and which feed would be the last to go?

I am hoping to fully ff by a couple of weeks time. sorry if this sounds confusing - it is!

TIA

Hi,

I had this dilema last week. DS 5.5 months I am going back to work soon and wanted to stop BF. by DS. His routine is feed, brekkie, feed, lunch, feed x 2 , tea, feed.....

I started by stopping the afternoon feeds, then the morning feeds in a matter of days.

Then, to be honest, I just stopped completely last wednesday. My DS is happy with both FF and BF so it was easy for him. My boobs hurt like crazy for a day or so... still tender and a bit lumpy .

I had had enough of BF, so decided to just stop. I enjoyed it till about 2 weeks ago and felt he had had the goodness so it was time i had my boobs back!

Good luck xx

PS I read somewhere that the best feed to BF on is the bed time one! And personally I would BF first one as well as doing formala when half asleep and crying baby a hassle!!

thanks kathryn. have been intending to stop for a few weeks but laziness has stopped me! i'm just too disorganised to have bottles with me when i go out etc. probably not going to wean dd till 6 months too so have to get the milk thing right! am going to make a concerted effort for the next couple of weeks. dd also seems happy with either so dont feel it will distress her or anything to finish.
am dreading the sore boobs though....

Someone on Mums net suggested sage for the sore boobs - personally have not tried it as paracetamol worked but may be worth a go but if you do it gradually, it may not be as painful!

I am so glad i BF as bottles are a hassle. HAve you got the Avent formaul pot - it is really good and then you just take your warm watter in a heated bag.

I hate sterilising! It is my pet hate!

Hi,

Ive just moved ds to ff hes 25 weeks.

I dropped the bf at a rate of 1 a week until I was only feeding twice a day and then stopped those this week. I havent had any sore boobs.
I did it in this order
Feeds Order
7am - 5th
10am - 4th
1.30pm - 2nd
4.30 - 6th
7.30pm - 1st
1am - 3rd
4am- still doing.
I tried to swop every other bf, but then got fed up with him waking and so I jumped to the night ones. Its difficult to start ff as when you have a screaming baby you just pull your boob out. TBH even though im back at work if ds is unsettled I still offer my boob sometimes just for comfort.

thanks kbaby. am looking at swapping the night ones next i think. i just cant seem to get organised with having bottles ready but i'm going to go and get a load after pay day next week and make a concerted effort!
