My 9 month old ff baby is not taking the required 500ml of formula a day - but is eating cheese and white sauce etc. is that ok?i think his total dairy intake is probably 500ml but as its my formula does he need to take a vitamin supplement?

I don't have access to my health visitors at the moment so not sure what the current advice is. Does anyone know?

As it's NOT formula - that should say...

As long as he's not losing weight don't worry. My daughter never took my than 3oz per feed.

Could it be the heat making him go off his Warm formula?
Maybe try cooling the formula down a bit?

Had the same thing, my HV said just to get vitamin drops OTC if he dropped below 500ml and obviously keep his fluids and dairy up. Oddly though, I just kept going offering him his 3 X 7oz bottles a day and he went back on them in his own time, as well as eating well, (mind you, I think that coincided with him starting to crawl...).

Ok so sounds like I should be getting him vitamin drops then. His diet is good and varied and mostly homemade so wasn't sure if he needed them it sounds like it's required - thanks guys.

He's definetley not losing weight ! Last guesstimate was than he's now 98th centile having been born on the 9th... Planning to talk to my HV about that when I can too!

2nds - I don't think it's the temp of the formula as he doesn't take the ready made bottles either or water for that matter. I assume he won't let himself et dehydrated? I'm keeping an eye on nappies and there are plenty of wet ones so I don't think he is yet. I'm obviously keeping a close today and will keep pushing milk and water to be sure...

It's formula not breastfeeding user

2nds · 19/07/2016 12:03

Would he take water from a spoon?

2nds · 19/07/2016 12:05

Or does he have a sippy cup that he could drink water or formula from?

2nds · 19/07/2016 12:07

Or how about one of these munchkin cups? My youngest loved these cups, and you can use them for formula too and they come in. Different sizes.
