hi,

I have been prescribed infant gaviscon for my ds(now 5.5wks).
Has been working fine but as he has put on weight and is over the 10lbs mark the v said to give 2sachets now as per instructions on the back as he had started to bring up quite a bit again.

But on the back it also says only give 6 times in 24hrs. Does this mean 6sachets so you can only use it for 3 feeds if doing this? Has anyone got any experience in using this.

Oh yes we couldn't figure out what they meant either; it's not very clearly worded on the packet but to me it looked as though it was saying 6 times for the double sachet was OK, and the doc concurred although she also said it was confusing! Otherwise if you were already giving single sachets 6 times a day you're not actually increasing the dose at all IYSWIM. However I didn't like giving him that much so kept it to 3 feeds.

What I should have done I suppose was ring them up (the manufacturers) and ask...

carameli, infant gaviscon was the bane of my life!! we took it to mean 6 doses in 24 hrs ie - 2 sachets if in the heavier weight category! tbh, like 2labs, we gave it less frequently as it was such a hassle trying to syringe it in.
good luck!
