9 month old not reducing milk

My 9 month old ds loves his food and eats three good meals a day. I keep reading that he should be taking approx 500ml of formula per day but he is having much more. He usually has around 950ml per day. Am I supposed to wait for him to naturally reduce his milk or should I be doing this for him?

That sounds fine. He's a baby, they are supposed to have main nutrition from milk

Ds's were breastfed but at 9months still fed 7-8 times a day on average. By 12-14 months this was down to 2 feeds.

Is he also increasing his energy levels though - crawling, cruising etc?

My son is 1 and still taking 800mls per day. Tried to reduce it but he's not having it. Have started 1/3 cows milk mixed in his bottle as he wont drink cows milk on its own. Think we will have to gradually increase the strength. I wouldn't worry too much about it to be honest. All babies are different.
