I have just been offered the opportunity to travel for 4 days, when DD will be 10 months. DD is breastfed, but will take a bottle. I'm worried however that my supply will be ruined, I would express 5/6 per day (she currently feeds through the night) I'm also worried that when I get back she might have 'forgotten' how to feed. Any advice would be much appreciated.
( it's all speculative at the moment because I'm not sure I'll be able to actually leave her that long, I'm getting cold sweats just thinking about it!)

Haven't personally been away for that long, but I think by 10 months your supply should be well established. My ds at that aged dropped feeds really quickly down to 2 a day and none overnight. Certainly expressing should help maintain your supply, and I'm sure your DD will have remembered how to feed.
HTH and someone with better knowledge comes along soon

Thank you that's reassuring. it's so hard to know how much she actually needs to feed because when she's with me I tend to offer the breast all day whereas when she's with DP she'll happily go for hours with food and water

Mine at that age I left a week at a time occasionally and they were fine after. Both were left for a week at a time after 6 months and were fine with cups of water/ regular milk and food. Both continued brestfeeding until 3+ years

I have exactly the same quandary. Whether to leave 10 mo for 5 nights for a work trip. DS is already down to only 4 feeds a day (and isn't particularly enthusiastic about those) so I'm worried he'll wean completely if I leave him for that long...

I left my older DC for a few days at a time, but not until she was a bit older (11.5 mo) and we continued bf until she was 2.

Hi, just thought that I'd update this thread for anyone in the same position. I went on the trip, left on Monday back Friday night and DD was totally fine, back to BF no problem. I could only express morning and evening on the trip which I thought would cause problems as I generally get really engorged if I skip a feed but my boobs adjusted quickly. TBH It was a treat to be a grown up for a few days!!
