Am sad - dd refused the boob tonight....

is this the beginning of the end?! she is 8 months and only really feeds first thing, last thing and during the night. i love bf - please cheer me up or point me in the direction of any similar threads please

oh don't be sad yet! there are lots of reasons she might have refused her milk - perhaps she isn't feeling tiptop? it's probably just a wee one off...

dd started fannying around at 10 months

My DS gave up at 9 months and I cried buckets, so I know how you feel. However, at the time my HV told me it could be a "nursing strike" where they just go off it for a few days, so don't give up hope. Keep trying for a week or two and she might change her mind.

On the plus side, it's sad when bf stops but after you've got over it you realise how free you feel when you get your boobs back (or 3/4 of them in my case...!).

I remember what it felt like when dd2 chose to give up breastfeeding before i was ready to give it up! It could just be that she has had her quota of milk and does not feel the need, or it could be that she is much more into looking around and watching whats going on. Even in a quiet darkened room mine always use to pull away after a couple of minutes just to have a noisey around! Maybe if you dropped the night feeds then she might be more into her milk morning and bedtime?

Also, teething use to make them go off feeding due to the pain of sucking. don't give up hope just yet!!

Agree with all the others. Could be teething or just being nosy IME.
But she is still feeding 3 times a day and by 8 months they are supremely efficient at feeding so they get what they need.
FWIW when I stopped bf DS at 14 months we were down to once or twice a day plus he started to bite.
