Picnic ideas for nearly 1yo

MrsS1980 · 01/06/2016 00:14

Hi all, over half term we have had lots of trips out to parks with picnics but now struggling with ideas for nearly 1yo Dd.

Any ideas for things she can eat easily on the go without ending up painted in food? She tends to eat a proper evening meal with us in the evening so I am looking for filling and healthy but not necessarily perfectly balanced iyswim.

Thanks, all ideas gratefully received.

I take cheese cubes, DS likes a bit of sausage roll and he'd have a bit of bread and ham.

I'm less bothered about healthy on a picnic and go with happy and low mess Grin

DS is 11mo

Sandwiches cut into cubes or fingers

Carrot and cucumber slices

Halved grapes

Flapjack squares

That kind of thing?

Oh YES cheese cubes!

Morrison's sell crisp size packets of mini breadsticks which are great. So them, rolled up slice of ham spread with dairylea, or solid cheese stick. Pot of cut up grapes and cucumber sticks plus biscuit for a snack. Oh and a pear which dd must take 1 bite off then lob!

I'm paranoid about choking so avoid apples etc. I would feed DS a fruit jar out and about as he loves them, so no mess.

DS also likes soft bits of chicken or gammon, so we'd also bring those.
