How much will breast feeding decrease with weaning?

A bit of a silly reason to ask, but we have a wedding to attend in September when ds will be 8.5 months. I've seen a beautiful dress and it's in the sale but it's not really bf friendly. Dd is 6 and I really can't remember how long the weaning process takes.
If we start weaning at 6m, how regular is bf likely to be by 8.5m?
I'm so desperate to buy it haha.

My dd is 8.5 months, started weaning at 6 months, and currently feeds first thing, mid morning, mid afternoon and bedtime, though sometimes adds in an extra one here or there, plus several hundred times overnight.
I have a wedding to go to when she is almost 1 and plan to wear a dress I can BF in just in case, though I'm hoping she might have dropped the mid morning and afternoon feeds by then.

Not ideal but can you get the dress and then if she's desperate for a feed find somewhere very quiet where you can basically take it off?

I found it varied loads. Mine fed well and regularly by then irt milk, but actual food intake could be loads to virtually none depending on the day! I stuck with the mantra of food is fun until their one, and expected the majority of feeds to be milk and any solids they consumed was a bonus.

If it's an all day wedding, then I'd steer towards a bf dress just to save the worry and panic if you can't find anywhere to take the dress off if baby becomes fussy. Maybe buy this dress anyway for the next special occasion? 😃

Between 8.5 and 9 months my dd stopped bf in the day completely, she just wouldn't have it. I think she's quite unusual though.

DD1 had just as many feeds, just smaller

DD2 lost interest in milk except at bedtime

They were both enthusiastic eaters - some DC don't take to food easily and so BF barely changes for the first few months of weaning

Ahh poop! I knew I was being optimistic! V necks & wrap style dresses really don't suit me! Ill get back to searching.

V necks and wraps don't suit me either. I wore something with a stretchy cowl neck when I had to go to a wedding while BF. Or something that buttons up?

Depends on the kid.

DS1 barely ate until he was over 1, so feeding was still full-on - he was finally forcefully weaned when my milk dried up at 3.5 when I was pregnant with his little brother.

DS2 had one taste of real food and entirely weaned himself in 6 weeks! (I remember a pitying look on his face the last time I tried to feed him - he just pulled my top down and patted my t-shirt in a manner quite beyond his 8 months!

Ahh minipie the first dress is beautiful. It was like this but higher neckline. Link is on the computer for the actual one I love, and I am not.

Ah nice style. But not BF friendly... Or could you buy the dress anyway and go off to a separate room for BF? Bit lonely though...

At 8.5months my DD was eating nothing and breastfeeding every 3 hours in the day. She was quite unusual amongst my group at the time though, all the other babies it seemed enthusiastically ate food and dropped milk feeds quickly.

I have the same dilemma gemmalou. Wedding in 3 weeks, still BF - DS isn't coming to the wedding but my parents are going to bring him up to feed twice so my boobs don't explode. I'm in two minds whether to just buy something totally inappropriate and see if I can feed in a friends room in the hotel or buy a feeding dress but I'm not overly excited by any I've seen so far & time is running out. That dress is lovely though - I'd buy it & wear it on your first baby free night out.

I like that first dress minipie - I hadn't considered a cowl neck.

Disclaimer: not all cowl necks are suitable, you need something really low and stretchy... But I think the one I linked to looks about right.

The cowl neck one doesn't have my size :( argh! On slimming world at the moment, down 1.5 stone and a larger size 10 currently. Could buy the 8 they have in stock and risk it? Need someone to.make important decisions like this for me!! Haha
