Holle and Hipp Formula: are they better?

I'm living in the US and it's my 3rd baby so I can tell DD2 is not liking the formulas here. I went to a new mothers group here and the nurse who runs it said I should consider Hipp or Holle formula from Germany.

Has anyone tried these formulas and found them to be better? I am asking because shipping them to the U.S. is a major PItA but a pain I'm willing to endure if others have found success.

Did the nurse say why she thought they were better? All formula, all over the world, has to adhere to the nutritional rules of the International Codex - you can google this and find out more. There are small differences in formulation, and in the US, even newborn formula has added iron, which UK formulas do not. Maybe Hipp and Holle formulas don't either - maybe this is what she meant? If so, you could see if there are any other iron free formulas available.

They should be the same except organic or not

There is no additional iron in regular UK infant formula, Chickpea.

Want2be, US formula has prebiotics. I don't know what straight up sugar means. Not sure how the protein content differs but 'simpler' protein is not necessarily better.

You can google prebiotics infant formula. No evidence they are beneficial but you'd find it hard to source infamt formula anywhere without them these days . Hipp has them now, I think, and didnt use to. Holle - I dont know.

So it sounds like this nurse was talking crap. Anyhow, I have tried to google to find out if there is such a thing as a formula which is closer to breast milk. You sound very knowledgeable, do you know if there is such a thing? Also, the straight up sugar is that U.S. formula uses corn syrup or cane sugar while the other European brands look to use other sweeteners (looks like lactose).

We have started with Costco own brand formula. Going to start cycling through the different brands to see what she likes.

That's if you don't have a suggestion of a good one to try for a baby girl who pooping 8-10 times a day with liquid poop, giving her a red raw bottom. Poor kid is very gassy.

My DD was happy with HiPP ready made formula and didn't have nappy rash.

It sounds more like she is intolerant to regular cows milk if she's pooing liquid so often and vomitting. Have you tried a cows milk free version? Some are prescribed here but not sure there. I think similac, gerber and a few others over there should do a dairy free version.
Or maybe a goat milk formula?

There are no 'closer to breastmilk' formulas - in fact, in the UK it is illegal to claim this, as it is false. Hope you get your little one sorted out with a formula that suits.

I've stopped into Walgreens and picked up carnation and Similac sensitive as well as the soy milk one. Hopefully one will work well.

our little boy is now heading towards 2 1/2, but still on Holle because his tummy can't take regular milk, even raw milk. We order it through Biologisch24.com, takes 3-6 weeks rot arrive. Most of the time it arrives on the quicker side. We originally had him on breastmilk which he couldn't tolerate... switched him to Holle and in 10 days he was a different child. Not colicky, just happy and healthy. Before I found B24, we bought the formula on eBay to try it out... pricey but glad we did it. When our next little is born, we'll go straight to the Holle.

oh, and NO soy or corn syrup, which is so bad in baby formula it should be illegal. I don't want my little boy filled with phytoestrogen (soy), and can't find any soy-free formula in the US.
