Terrified of my baby choking

My DS is 4 weeks old. Pretty sure he has reflux. He hiccups loads, is quite sicky, windy and gulps loads in his sleep. He's not particularly fussy but sometimes gets quite cross and uncomfortable.

However I'm terrified he will choke on his own spit up/vomit at night. He quite frequently makes choking/gulping noises at night which wake him up so we never get longer than 2 hours at a time either.

I've elevated his cot and I keep him upright for 30 mins after every feed but it's not helping. I'm so scared he'll choke.

Any experience? GP isn't interested as he's gaining weight well.

Ds2 has this and it turned out to be mild reflux. He was put on infant gaviscon (does fuck all and a PITA to give to EBF babies) then ranitidine.

I was terrified of choking too but he never did and at 13 weeks he's now grown out of it.

My baby is8 weeks old now and on gaviscon and infacol. Just check if bottle fed that teat not too big as they can gulp loads of air that way. He was worse a few weeks ago. It could be silent reflux, where baby seems to be thriving and putting on weight but really they want milk just to soothe their tummies. Once they put on weight everyone assumes it can't be reflux. I went out and got gaviscon for baby as just knew something wasn't right. As the weeks pass he will improve. My other dd hiccuped everyday in the womb and after 90% of feeds for 6 months. Apparently hiccups mean they're thriving!

Try not to worry - waking up or just moving his head to the side are his way of keeper himself safe.
If you think he's really uncomfortable it might be worth trying ranitidine. It lowers the stomach acid so it's not burning as it comes up.
You might all get more sleep too!

He seems so much happier sleeping on his tummy - he slept for 4.5 hours last night on my chest but I know that's unsafe.

Yes it is unsafe. Try a sleepyhead if you can.

I've already got one. Makes no difference to his reflux.

Is you DS bf or ff? We had this problem early on but changing to cow and gate reflux milk improved things massively.

See I have always laid my babies on their belly to sleep as they sleep better
