breast pads - which ones did you use?

i'm breast feeding my first baby, he's just 2 days old, and i'm struggling with breast pads not staying in my bra. they don't seem sticky enough and just float around, which is making my already sore nipples more sore!!

i'm currently using boots own brand, is there a better one out there?

I found tommee tippee ones were the best especially as I leaked like a goodun!! they were a bit bigger than most others and thinner and kind of curved to my boob a bit better iyswim. I never used the sticky bits though, too much faffing with hungry babies!! I found taking the whole thing out of my bra and holding it far easier then it didnt get all scrunched up. Also mostly wore a mothercare nighttime feeding bra for the first 6 months, more like a crop top and the pads stayed put a bit better and I wasn't so squished when the milk came it throughout the day. oooh I have rambled sorry, hope I have helped a teeny bit though

Tommee Tippee and Lansinoh are actually the same (afaik) and are the best I used. They're much more slimline than many of the other brands, yet very absorbant, and also have good sticky bits on the back. I realise I sound like an advert for them - but they really are so much better than any others I tried.

I used Lansinoh and Tommee Tippee too.They are the best imo.
I have a bag of them left over from stopping bf nearly a year ago do you want them FFP? Seems a waste to chuck them!

Having bf 3 lo's i have tried every breast pad known to man.Tommee Tippee were the only ones which could cope with the huge leaks that happened at every feed.dd2 is 24 weeks and i am still using them.Can stop soon hopefully lol

lansinoh and tommee tippee - think they are made by the same people as they are pretty identical from what i remember. far far far better than anything else.

the tommee tippee are the only ones bid enough to cover me properly and i only have to change once a day unlike any other i have found

johnsons, I found TT in the early days to be itchy, avent disposables were also very good.

don't forget to apply lots of crream as well - I found that helped them stick to my boobs lol.

Another vote for Avent - the're slightly padded which is good for sore boobs . The Lansinoh and Boots ones irritated me cos they were plastic backed. Boots cheap disposables are especially awful - settle into hard lumps once you've had a bit of a leak

I found own brand ones from ALL shops pretty useless.

The best ones I found were the chiccomamma ones, which you can only get from boots chemists.

They are £4.99 for a box of 60 - pretty reasonable, and they are just as good, IMVHO as the Lansinoh ones, except cheaper. Will send you a few if you want to trial them? I am still having to use b/pads now as I am still leaking when feeding DS.

Postage is around £2 1st class or £1.50 2nd class.

I thought I would revive this thread as I have discovered 'Lily Padz' - a reusable (last for months) rubber self-adhesive breast pad that essentially prevents the milk let down reflex, so you don't leak! You put it on by depressing your nipple with it and then it clings to you. Smooth line under your top!! Just wear a bra / tight fitting vest and away you go. Wash with hot sopay water and you can occasionally sterilise them by putting in boiling water for 3-5mins. I adore them!!

I found that the naturebaby ones were the best, because they aren't plasticky, are thin and wide, but pretty absorbant. I leak every feed and haven't had any problems with these. Much better than the lumpy mothercare ones!

Johnson's for me - didn't find boots or tesco own brands that good. Johnsons were good so I didn't try any others after that.

IMO I found Lansinoh disposables to be the best. When DS was about 2mths I switched to washable ones. The Lansinoh ones need to be ironed to sit flat, so use the Avent ones which are great, unless you want to wear a very slim fitting top then you need to revert to the disposables.

Tommee Tippee, the others either really show through tops or do not hold enough liquid.

Tommee Tippee I found to be the best. Lansinoh seemed to be the same but more expensive. Tesco often have the TT ones on half price offer, worth buying a few boxes when they are.
