Stupid question about heating bottles

If I heat a bottle in the microwave (of cows milk) can I leave the teat and lid on or should I take them off?

Dumb question I know but have never heated in micro before as have always used ebm!

We use AVENT bottles and if we heat in the microwave bung the whole thing in there!

Best check the manufacturer recommendations if not sure.

At least someone ahs done it without their microwave exploding! seriosuly, DH and I have properly convinced ourselves it will go bang....(sleep deprivation can do funny things to the brain )

I dont have any of the stuff that came with the bottles, I bought them all months ago, and it doesn't say on the teats. I have MAM teats and boots own brand or tommee tippe bottles if that makes a difference?

I always took the top (ring, teat and lid)off before microwaving. I think that is what is recommended anyway.

I have avent bottles and put the whole thing, nipple and lid in. 30 seconds on high is good for 8 oz of formula.

Me too, but for 8 oz bottle, put in for 45 secs (We obviously have a crap microwave)

If the Avent bottles are able to be microwave steam sterilised then I can't see the problem with warming milk with the teat etc attached. Though they can get quite warm so you might want to test the temperature before giving to your LO, I guess?
