I think it's 24hrs but not sure.

I know we're meant to make up each feed fresh but my health visitor has basically told me that that ruling is based on research where they were testing bottles that we being kept in unsanitary conditions.

I actually think it's still ok after 24hrs but i'm not sure.
my lovely little girl varies between 15 and 25 oz a day, partly cos she's mixed feeding, so obviously if I end up wasting a lot of formula on the days where she only has 15, cos I always make up 30 at the start of the 24hrs (30 because even when she has 25oz, she'll often leave an oz here and there)

the new improved aptamil is even more bloody expensive so less waste would be good. thanks

I'm sure I was always told 24hours as long as its refrigerated & only reheated the once.
But it's been a while since I last made bottles haha.

it is 24 hours but it is advised to make them up as you need them. This is because the formula is not sterile.

Your Hv is wrong, though. The guidance is based on what is known about formula powder, and nothing to do with bottles.

If you want to waste less why not make up the smaller amount and just make up some more if you're running out...? Just because it will last 24 hrs doesn't mean you can only make it up every 24 hours..

Have a look at the food standard agency advise on formula feeding. In hospital bottles are made in advance, flash cooled and then stored in a fridge for up to 24 hours.
