i am breastfeeding my 16 week old although began to give her 1 bottle of formula at night following her being in hospital with breathing difficulties, i now want to start expressing so i can carry on giving the bottle but with EBM not formula, does anyone know if i sterise the pump can i then keep it in the fridge ready for the morning pump or do i have to do it in the morning?

I think I used to sterilse the night before and keep it in clear plastic sandwich bags in a cool bag to take to work the next day.

I used to do that RMW2 and never had any problems. It's a real pain otherwise.

Just saw this so may be a bit late. I have an Avent BP and I called them to ask this question. Once sterilised it will keep in the fridge for 24hrs.

Hi

The advice that came with my pump was to sterilise it once a day and just wash with hot soapy water in between (I express 5 times a day). This works for us an my DS (17 weeks) has never had a tummy bug. I do sterilise the containers though and keep them with .

So I guess what I am saying is that you don't need to worry too much as long as it is sterilised every day. It will never be really 'sterile' anyway unless you have access to a hospital steriliser, according to my MW.

Sorry..not sure what happened there..

I do sterilise the containers though and keep them with the lids on for no longer than 24 hours.
