Is oestrogen dangerous in breast milk?

I'm keen for various reasons to start using an oestrogen based contraceptive again. DD is still feeding. I understand that oestrogen may reduce my supply, but as DD is 3 I'm less bothered by that. But does anyone know if it could cause harm to DD if I fed her after taking oestrogen? I'm finding mixed information online. FWIW, DD feeds maximum twice a day and not every day and the contraceptive I would like to start using is the vaginal ring which has lower levels of hormones than the combined pill.

TIA!

I have never heard or read any concerns from reputable sources about this.

There shouldn't be an issue but you'll be hard pushed to find a hcp who will prescribe oestrogen containing contraception if you're bfing

Is that true Junosmum? The concerns about oestrogen are the possible impact on supply. The OP is not really worried about this, and it would not be an issue with very well-established breastfeeding, I don't think.

I know my GP just won't, regardless as it's contraindicated in the drug book. The OP may have a more reasonable GP.

Thanks for your advice! I have got back prescription (nurse wasn't too keen when I said I was still bf but did still prescribe). Confidently AF turned up today so I decided to start my first ring. Glad to hear that it shouldn't be harmful to DD. Thanks again!
