Avent steriliser and Mam bottles

Hi, I have bought Mam bottles, but don't have a microwave. i am thinking of buying the Avent electric steriliser 2 in 1 or the 3 in 1. I have read really bad reviews for both of them. The 2 in 1 leaks apparently and the cable doesn't sit smoothly under the base, it also stop working properly after a while.
The 3 in 1's metal plate rusts very quickly or produce some kind of burning smell.
I don't know what to do as there is not a lot of choice out there...

You could cold water sterilise?

If you buy an electric one, just try not to spend loads. I've never had one which isn't slightly annoying (like, why can't you empty the water out without the cable having to come too?), but given that they're fairly cheap, it's OK.

Thanks. I thought about the cold water and Milton but am worried about the chemicals. Did you rinse your bottles with boiling water afterwards?

I've got an avent steriliser and it need descaling after every use (which costs a fortune in white wine vinegar) other wise it burns on the Base.

That sounds like a nightmare! I'm having twins, i doubt i will have the time. Maybe i should buy a microwave after all...

Yeah, I barely used either, as mostly breast fed. But it is quite handy to have the small milton travel cold water steriliser for travel, and for those odd things, like medicine syringes, that might melt in the steam steriliser! I did rinse with boiling water, but as I say, I didn't need to do it much.

We had this Tommee Tippett one. As I say, I'm not a great tester, as it didn't get heavy use, and the cable thing annoyed me, but it's only £25. Cheaper than a microwave?

Buy a microwave! The joy of mam bottles other than helping colic is no need for a steriliser or miltons on the counter. Microwave has been so handy with weaning aswell to defrost quickly. Make sure you get one tall enough for the mam 260ml bottles and mine only just fit in.

Thank you for the advice. I was trying to avoid buying a microwave as i don't really like using it. I have heard it destroy all the vitamins...But it seems it might be the easiest solution in the end.
