Weaning off nipple shields after tongue tie

I had my daughter's tongue tie cut yesterday at 5 and 1/2 weeks old. I have been using nipple shields from 2 days old and supplementing with formula from 3 weeks old. Directly after the appointment she latched quite well but since then she has struggled to latch on, getting quite upset when trying. It feels really hard to get her to open her mouth wide enough and she ends up moving her head from side to side in distress. Any tips? I really would like to wean off the shields

It took my ds a week or two to learn a better latch after his tongue tie was snipped, and I weaned off nipple shields over a couple of weeks. Still feeding fine now at six months, no pain at all. Don't rush it, you'll get there.
