does a bottle last 1 or 2 hours?

I've tried looking on the nhs and start for life websites and it doesn't say. Everyone I know (health visitor, relatives etc) says it's 1 hour but I heard somewhere else that the nhs says the milk lasts 2 hours, is that just the milk tho and not the bottle?!

You mean a bottle which you have been giving to your baby and which you want to set aside - two hours would probably be too long.

Or a bottle you have prepared and have not yet given to your baby? That should stay in the fridge or (better) be made fresh.

Or a bottle you are taking out with you, before you give it to your baby? That should be kept cool, and again, two hours sounds a long time if it is not being kept cool.

You can call the helpline number on the formula pack, and ask them...they will have official advice from the manufacturer.

Nhs says this :

If made-up formula is stored in a fridge, use within 24 hours.

If made-up formula is stored in a cool bag with an ice pack, use withinfour hours.

If made-up formula is stored at room temperature, use withintwo hours.

SMA website says:
For hygienic reasons, discard unfinished feed in the bottle as soon as possible, and always within 2 hours.

I mean a bottle that's been made up and left in the fridge for less than 24 hours, then you take it out and the baby drinks from it.....how long before you have to using a fresh bottle for her to drink from?

my baby sometimes wants more milk when the bottle has been drunk from an hour and 15 mins ago, and I always get her a new bottle because I've been told that bottles only last an hour from when the baby first drinks from it

does anyone know what the NHS advise is in this situation, 1 or 2 hours?

I would time it as 2 hours from the start of the feed which tallies with what the sma website says. What does it say on your tub of formula (what milk is it?)

it's aptimal, or however you spell it. I'm not sure it says anything about it......

I start with a 2oz feed then top up the feeding bottle from another bottle an oz at a time so she gets what she needs in that session, because being mixed fed for her means that the amount she wants can vary a lot, and this way I save some money by wasting less milk

Two hours left at room temp or one hour from putting in babies mouth is on my pack.

Aptamil website says:
For hygiene reasons, do not store made up feeds and discard unfinished feeds as soon as possible, always within 2 hours

2 hours is fine. It's mostly common sense just make sure it doesn't get too hot, if it's hot/in the sun you probably want to chuck it away when your done.
