Finished BF & feeling crap!!!

Evening all
Well I made a decision to stop BF this week as returning to work in 2 weeks & DD didn't seem interested anymore. (shes 6 months!)

Tuesday she didn't really take any breast milk so haven't BF yest or today!
I'm feeling really crap about it, my boobs are really sore and to top it all off she just won't settle to sleep tonight and I know a quick BF would just do the trick! Oh and while I'm whinging AF returned yest which I'm sure haven't helped! Could just sit in the corner and cry!

Really struggling and needed to vent, no need to reply!!

Are you 100% sure you definitely have to stop? Can you just do morning and bedtime? What hours are you doing?

Could still feed only work 9-5 but she geniuenly doesn't seem interested anymore gets far more excited about a bottle and boob now!
Was going to carry on but somehow it appears that DD has made ab unconcious decision for me to stop?

But if she'll settle with a bfeed now, give it a go.

Babies can go through non-interested stages - if you want to carry on, if it's making you feel crap to stop, go and feed her

Yes - I'd definately give another feed a go. Esp if you're feeling sore. When I stopped bfing I did it gradually so emotionally and physically I could cope.

And if ever I felt like feeding - I would do just that

Going cold turkey may well make you feel crap and you could yet develop a blockage or mastitis. Why not keep the evening feed going just for a week or so to ease the transition ?

Agree with others figgy - keep the evening feeds going?

Went back to work when DS was 4 months and carried on bf until he was 14 months. Did not feel physically sore or emotionally crap when I stopped as we were down to 2 feeds a day by then and he self-weaned (lots of biting!)

My DD will be 6 months when I go back to work next month and I will carry on bf until whenever. It can be done and it does not necessarily mean that you will leak or have to faff around expressing in your lunch hour - I didn't. Supply will adjust etc (although both mine on solids by the time I went/will be going back).

im going back to work on 8th jan and am still 100% bf, and will have to carry on when im back at work due to his milk allergy, BUT i have to say i will feel sad when i have to express in my lunch hour for him as i will miss feeding him, (will still be doing the am and pm feeds and also nights as he still wakes 3-4 times a nighti need sleep!!)
i had planned to try giving him formula during the day from 5 months and bf am and pm but its not worked out like that.

i think if you feel crap then carry on bf. i know i dont personally feel ready to give up yet and as he loves his boobie so much i dont think i could have given formula now anyway.

did any of that make sense?
