Bursting and sore

Dd is 5.5 months and bf most of the time with a ff at bedtime. She's been very fussy for over a month now (biting, pulling, coming on and off)but seems very well and is growing out of clothes. For the last two days though I've had a really sore right nipple. I can't see anything obvious but it feels very tender and hurts when she latches onConfused. I've also been getting engorged in the evenings. I've not noticed a change in her feeding pattern but last night I leaked everywhere during the night and despite the ff being a regular thing since she was tiny I'm feeling like I need to express a bit to ease the pressure. What's going on with my boobs!!?!

I get this sometimes too! Well I used to in the earlier days (DS is 14 months now). I never figured out what it was.

I particularly used to get it if DS had bitten me hard, so I attributed it to a sort of traumatising of the nipple stimulating production, but I have no idea why.

It usually went after about 2 days, but yes, I always thought it was weird.

Ps. You might want to keep an eye out for thrush if your nipple is sore for unexplained reasons
