how to sterilise dummys??

my friend has just had a baby and is using dummys, i never used them with ds so have no idea but when she sterilises them inside the steamer inside the teat bit its filling up with staem then once cold has the water in it, my friend is worried thet the water may harm the baby as the water in it stays doormant(sp??)

she has tried cool water sterilising and it fills up with the solution of water and milton and is worried that this will harm the baby. She has tried different makes of dummys and is finding its happening with them all.

so is it safe for both methods with the water being in the teat bit?? TIA

I'd just wash it with hot water and soap thb.

Sterilising is over-rated!

Just wash in hot soapy water and leave to air dry.

Just run it under a tap!

Honestly - this sterilising lark is going too far! It has been proved that sterilising is unnecessary so long as you run all bottles and teats under hot water after washing them.

Wash in hot soapy water and leave to dry. Sterilizing is not necessary (they don't do it in the USA at all).

With her 2nd baby she'll pick the dummy off the floor, suck it herself and give it back to the baby

if you squeeze the dummy all the water comes out anyway

i used to squeeze it out

or bung it in the spout of the kettle when it was boiling
