I need urgent help - stopping bf quickly

I've just been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and the Dr has told me I cannot breastfeed on the tablets they need to give me

She said I need to wean DD (7mo) before I go to see a specialist at the hospital next week.

DD is a bottle refuser and has always been ebf. She eats a lot, every 2-3 hours during the day and sleeps really badly at night so I bf her back to sleep (sometimes wakes up every 30 minutes!)

I don't really have a clue about how to get her having bottles. I have some Aptimil and it says 3 bottles a day - how would I work that?! She is eating food now but I can't see how she'd only have 3 bottles a day.

Also I've heard you should stop gradually to avoid mastitis. I've got mastitis at the moment. I'm on antibiotics but I'm scared of making it worse by suddenly stopping. What should I do? Mega stressed!

I think they wanted to give me carbimazole, the dose I need is apparently too high for me to continue bf as it might affect DD's thyroid.

The second link is interesting, looks like there's another type of medication that is ok with bf I will definitely bring this up with the Dr! I'd much rather stop bf when DD is ready.

Oh goodness, poor you!

Really hope the doc can give you the other medication instead. If not, why not try expressing a little to help with the mastitis?

My DS (8months) has also never taken a bottle but will now drink water out of a nuby sip and grip beaker so you could give milk in something like that maybe?
