Lansinoh? Don't go!

Just sent dh out to buy me a new tube of Lansinoh. He's been told by woman in the chemist's that it's been discontinued by the manufacturer.....

This is nonsense surely????? Well, that's what I've said to dh and he's gone to Boots but has anyone used Kamilosan and is it a decent substitute incase he can't get any Lansinoh?

Lansinoh is better.

(I do have a nearly unused tube of it, DD being less harsh on my nipples than I imagined she would be)

PinkTinsel · 12/12/2006 12:13

bollocks, it sells like mad, not just for nipple cream but it's used for lanolising wool nappy wraps too.

LemonTart · 12/12/2006 12:13

I hated the smell of Kamilosan (chamomile smells a bit weird to me) but worked just as well IMO - have used both. Only the smell seems vastly diff to me.
Surprised if discontinued, more likely that the chemist has found that a stockist is no longer providing it rather than the actual manufacturer - but could be wrong..

MamaG · 12/12/2006 12:14

I thought Lansinoh was a MNer who was flouncing...

shonaspurtle · 12/12/2006 12:18

Well that's what I thought. What an odd thing to say to someone though.

Unless, and it's not beyond the realms of probability, dh has completely misunderstood. Or can't be arsed going to the chemist and reckons he could get away with buying a pot of vaseline in Morrison's instead.....

MamaG - maybe I should change my nickname. I'm getting through buckets of the stuff...

I use it for everything - chapped lips, cracked heels, any dry skin patches. DP uses it for joggers nipple/

I find it a miracle cure all. Funny - I was just thinking last night I should stock up. It last for ages but I found it so hard to find before.

I have always found it at mothercare.

Does this help

lansinoh website

You can order it from NCT online sales, think the postage charge is around 50p

shonaspurtle · 12/12/2006 14:04

Thanks JNM. I've ordered some from Boots online. It's in stock according to them...

It's in production SPurtle - get some it's super stuff. Put loads on & use a breast pad so it doesn't stain your clothes.

mamama · 12/12/2006 21:03

I can't believe they'll no longer make it.

It's irreplacable. Great for cracked hands too!

Jackieo2 · 12/12/2006 21:12

I used Lansinoh on my lips and it was great until I had an allergic reaction to lanolin (quite common) and came up in hives all over my face and boobs . It was Christmas day last year and I couldn't find a chemist

That's interesting shonaspurtle as Kamilosan has been discontinued in Ireland and Lansinoh is the cream that is being offered by my chemist!

I used Kamilosan on my first two children and found it wonderful. It was great for any rash as well.

Highlander · 13/12/2006 11:06

I've got an opened tube if anyone wants it

Laura032004 · 13/12/2006 15:03

I love it for the dry skin behind DS2's ears!

I've never had a problem with my latch, but get painful nipples with recurring thrush, and Lansinoh takes the edge off the discomfort.

loopylopey · 13/12/2006 21:54

Daktarin oral gel was good for thrush in nipples and the breast if thats any good to you.
My pharmacist gave me Daktarin foot spray at first to spray on boobs but it wasn't very nice! So i used the oral gel which was a big relief.
