Best source of info re meds and bf?

Hi, a friend with 6.5 mo is in hospital with suspected gall bladder blockage. She is desperate to keep bf if she can although she is very unwell. So far her DD is ebf. She has had various meds but is struggling to get answers about which ones are safe when bf and with the morphine, which definitely isn't safe, how long after she had it it is safe to bf. What is the best source for this kind of info? TIA.

The BFN have really good factsheets on a whole range of medication.

Hope she's feeling better soon

Also KellyMom (here and here) has some useful resources.

Thanks everyone. I really feel for her as this is the first time she has had to be away from her baby Sad She didn't want to be admitted but couldn't keep even water down.

No need to assume morphine is not safe - mothers have morphine for pain relief post c-section, and obviously with newborns. And a six month old does not present the same situation.

This needs checking out - if someone has told her 'no bf' they need to be asked details.

Thanks Tiktok. Good to know. At present my friend is too dehydrated to be able to express much anyway but I gave her the details of the helpline. Will make sure to pass that info on too.
