After my post last night that I want to stop bf seems ds has answered my request and wouldn't feed at his 4am feed. Had to send dh out to get formula, which he took.

Now looking at it overall I don't want to stop bf I just want it to not upset ds so much when he comes to feed, he just crys and screams when I put him to the breast.

He is still asleep now but hoping he will feed off me when he wakes. Anyone got any tips?

It is really upsetting thinking about how the bf is not working out. My birthday today as well just want us both to be happy.

Happy Birthday

It seems to me that the pair of you are associating breastfeeding with upset at the moment. You need to make it an enjoyable experience for you both. Before he is due a feed, undress him (except for nappy) and hold him skin-to-skin against you. Babies lying skin-to-skin tend to breastfeed better. Don't wait until he is awake and screaming for a feed. Don't change his nappy till he has fed from one breast. Up until now he has been able to latch on. He will do again. Express some mik prior to latching on so that he can taste it. If he doesn't feed, express milk off so that you are stimulating your supply as well as making EBM available for him. If he is screaming rejecting the breast, you could let him have some EBM out the bottle first and then latch him on.
Have you ever fed him lying down?
There are solutions to this problem. You may need support from a breastfeeding counsellor. Good luck.

Is there a breastfeeding group in your area?

Is there a La Leche group?

I'd speak to a counsellor from either or the Association of Breastfeeing Mothers.

(only seeing as Mears can't come round to help you out as she is the bestest midwife )
