4 month old wanting 7oz every 2 hours?!

My 4 month old used to be fed 7oz of formula every 3 1/2 - 4 hours, now he is wanting the same but every 2 hours. Surely this can't be right? He's on anti reflux milk as he cant keep normal formula down so can't try hungry baby milk. I did try feeding him cooled boiled water inbetween feeds but he cannot keep that down either.

I've spoken with our dr (well the dr covering our usual GPs mat leave) and nurse practitioner, neither of which offered any advice.

He's also started the 4 month sleep regression and teething so things are pretty tough right now, any suggestions are welcome!

don't know anything about formula, but he's growing so surely he's going to want more food??

will he take more than 7oz at a time?

I seem to remember a growth spurt and big developmental changes at that age so he will be hungry. If he is draining 7oz then try making bigger bottles. It's best to have a bit left at the bottom of the bottle so you know they've had enough.

He's not draining 7oz bottles, he does leave a small bit at the end. I did try him on 8oz which he would finish but throw most of it back up as if he was too full.

He's definitely is having a growth spurt as he seems bigger each day! I was just worried that he was eating too much.

How many bottles is he having in a day? I think my DS was having 5 7oz bottles in a 24 hour period at that age.

He was having 5 but now he will have 6/7 depending on what time he wakes up in the morning.

We have tried making him wait a bit longer for a feed but he will scream until he is blue in the face. He is difficult baby at the best of times, but we thought we had sleep and feeding cracked.

Mine has just started doing the same. She can easily eat 7 bottles of 7oz in a day - same anti-reflux food too. I'm just going with it & hoping it will tail off soon. After only waking up once a night over the past few weeks, she drank 3 bottles last night Confused

It will calm down, I found 4/5 months one of the most difficult times. You're doing right by giving him what he needs, just go with it (even if it is exhausting). I tend to find my DS has always gone longer between feeds if we are out and about and he is distracted. At 9 months he is now on just 2 bottles, first and last thing, so there is light at the end of the tunnel.
