Any advice on expressing?

I am managing to express quite well, I think (7-8oz on average), the only trouble is, it's at 3-4o'clock in the morning!!
I started to do it when I was ecpecting DD to wake up for her feed, but she didn't.
Now, whenever I try to express after her last feed at night, I only get 3-4oz.
She takes her last at about 8.30-9.30 and I try expressing at 10.30-11.30 ish, so that I can get a better sleep!
But when I try to sleep through I am woken by the milk coming in and dripping everywhere!
I have just ignored it for 2 nights and woken engorged and still dripping.
How can I change my cycle?
She is only 11 weeks and I don't really need to express as I am not planning on going back to work, but I like to have some available for if I need it or get ill etc.
It is a bit of a waste not want not thought pattern behind it but 3 o'clock in the morning is silly.

Reduce the amount you are expressing at night otherwise your body is going to keep going into overdrive. If you have milk in the freezer just now, phase down the expressing so that your supply can adjust. You don't want to risk mastitis due to the engorgement.

Agree with Mears about gradually reducing the amount you express in the night.

Is there a milk bank near you that you'd consider donating any extra you have to to feed prem babies?

Last night it was 6am before I had any let down so that was a better time. I thought I was to express until there was no more coming. Would I not just continue to drip everywhere if I stopped earlier?
Hadn't thought on donating though. But I have not heard of the need locally. I will look into it.

You can express just enough to feel comfortable. Good idea about donating milk - I did that which is really satisfying.

Remember that when you express you are triggering your breasts to make MORE milk. Only do that if you need to store it for when you are not there, or donating. Otherwise you will be producing more than you need.
