pain after stopping bf help!

Have stopped bfeeding 16mth old. He was down to 1 feed at bedtime. Have fed 2 others with no probs stopping. Both breasts over a week later are v painful. Both feel lumpy esp under the nipple and are sore and tender. I don't feel engorged as in rock hard boobs, I am not unwell as in mastitis and it is both sides. What could it be? And how can I help it?

I was the same - first week after stopping was swollen and sore like I expected, but week 2 was weirder - not engirgwd any more, but felt really uncomfortable with boobs like 2 bags of maltesers. I did a bit of improvised massage (kind of like hand expressing) to try to avoid blocked ducts, and kept an eye out for mastitis obviously, but otherwise to was just a case of waiting for it to pass.
