nipple blisters

Anyone had these? I've been expressing (15 day old) as my DD's latch is so bad she wasn't putting on weight.

My nipples are agony and after looking today they both have small blisters on them. Any advice on stopping the agony?!!

Is the breastshield for your pump the correct size? I've only used the medela swing and it has different size shields but not sure if your make has? Your nipples should not be getting blisters from a pump with correct size shield. (Or are these caused by dc?)

Lansinoh for your nipple blisters will help them heal. Apply regularly and keep them moist with it.

Have you had a breastfeeding specialist check your latch? Or has dc been checked for tongue tie?

Wrong size breast shield. Depending where the blisters are on nipple, go up or down a size

You poor thing. Keep plastering on the Lanisoh, it goes on easier if you keep it somewhere warm. Hope u feel less sore soon.

I remember those days! My nipples were so cracked and blistered I cried whenever I fed DS for the first 3/4 weeks! They need to heal, use Lansinoh on them, warm it up first and easier to apply! Grin

It's the worst pain ever isn't it?!

Kellymom website has a really good page. Search for 'milk blister'.

Take paracetamol and use salt water to clean the nipple. Use a hot flannel on breast before expressing and use lanisoh.

Thanks everyone.

Paracetamol, hot compress, gentle expressing & copious amounts of cream are vaguely helping!
