Infacol in expressed milk, possible?

Hi,

Started giving infacol today as 3 month old DS is struggling with wind, I think. About to do a dream feed at 11 with expressed milk. Can I just put the infacol in the milk as I am certain he will wake up when given an squirt of orange in his mouth. If not I will just leave out the infacol for this feed as it would defeat the point of a dream feed I guess. Any advice welcome x

I always put infacol in formula as would shake to mix but didn't with ebm as didn't shake it... Give it a good swirl and I'm sure it will be fine tho. (Also infacol can be given from birth so not sure why you waited till 3 months?)

It isn't that I waited, the problems have just started. He has become a really efficient feeder and am wondering whether this has made him more windy not sure but he is quite squeally and screechy after feeds and just seems to be windy all day long poor thing.

Might be too late now looking at the time of your post, but I usually give the infacol then wait a few minutes, and sometimes even pat the back and DS brings up a burp before feeding. I'm not sure if it would work f it's diluted in several oz of milk? Maybe tr gripe water after a feed?

That's odd for wind to start at 3 months but your logic makes sense. Hope it improves soon.

Yes, I agree fredandme, I wondered why his wind has just suddenly got really bad. . However he is dribbling like a maniac and his hands always in his mouth so don't know whether all is something related to early teething. He is also getting really moody with my right breast, looking at me and screeching before he feeds and he finds it so hard to latch onto it with a dribble mouth. I had major problems with it at the start so thought he might be learning to be fussy and remembering, if that makes sense. He is forever coming off during feeds so is this wind or teething. It can get a bit confusing trying to pinpoint a problem. . . I am just waiting for another phase to pass I guess. My DD didn't get so dribbly, so early.

Have started infacol, in milk at night and before feeds in the day. Don't know whether it is this or my constant focus on winding well that is creating massive burps. . . But he just can't get it all out. Feel like I need to spend the whole day boucing him about and dancing with him :)

You have to give Infacol at the start of the feed for it to be most effective. Have you tried a bit of gripe water in his bottle? That works for us.
