What's going on here - 'delayed' reflux??

Hoping someone can give some advice on this....

My LO is breastfed, has a formula bottle in the evening and then I BF hear again (sometimes twice) before she goes down for the night.

She does posset and I think does have reflux symptoms now and again, I can see it come up and then she swallow it/spits it out - sometimes cries and is windy with it, sometimes not.

The problem we are having is that after she's gone to bed, say 10pm, she often then will wake hours after, like 1am and be gagging/swallowing/spitting up. This is after I've burped her and had her upright for a while before putting her down, so I just don't get it - surely after all that time, that milk will have been digested?? Its as though it's just sitting there and not making it to her stomach.

All I can think is either she's too full (can that even happen?) or I have failed in burping her properly. What else could it be?

She is really settled for those few hours so I question whether she would be if she had wind.

Anyway, I'm baffled and don't know what to do about it. Has anyone experienced similar?

Other than this, she is putting on weight, everything else fine and normal. She's 8 weeks.

Thanks

Never had a similar experience as never gave formula. Is it just at night dc does this? Does she settle back done after? Ds1 had reflux but was unsettled all day so I question whether your dc has reflux if they are settled at other times.

If you think it may be that dc is overfed could you try missing out the formula for a few days to see if that makes a difference? Just offer more freqents bfs through late arvo and early evening (which is a very normal feeding pattern for an 8 week old).

She does posset during the day but it's more of a problem at night because she's lying down and it sounds like she's choking. Yes she settles after - though sometimes wants feeding again, unless I am misreading the cues and making the problem worse!

Over fed would seem the most logical although I didn't think this was possible?? and I don't think she is full from the formula as within 2 hours of that, I'm BF again.. Do babies literally have eyes bigger than their stomachs?!

I could cut/reduce the formula but she did this even when exclusively BF
