Self-weaning at 8 months?

DS is 8.5 months, was ebf till 5.5 months then took to solids with huge enthusiasm, and for the past month or so had been having a bf morning and night ie twice in 24 hours.

Recently he has been unenthusiastic about the night BF and has dropped this himself.

He doesn't have a formula milk 'feed' but does get through lots of formula and cows milk in cereal and cooking so he probably is getting enough but is it normal for them to drop bf so readily?

I don't think it's abnormal, if that's what you're worried about. Sounds like he's getting what he needs nutritionally, so in your situation I wouldn't be convened. But I guess you could talk to a health visitor if you are.

DD dropped feeds quickly around this age and was down to a very quick morning and bedtime feed by 1.

My now 5yr old was the same, ebf until I went back to work and then just fed morning and evening was never really interested in formula then drop bf around 8. months.
She did take cows milk from a cup once she was 1 and still loved it now
